We live in a culture that prioritizes doing, creating, and achievement - things that often provide markers of tangible progress. A high score, a faster time, a promotion, and a new (fill in the blank) all give us a boost and are recognized as something worth celebrating. And these are all good things! But there and often imbalance of time and energy spent on these things in comparison to things that may be critical to our well-being, if less noteworthy. While our modern society moves quickly and we our more connected than ever (often experiencing more demands than ever on our time and attention), our bodies and minds still need balance to function optimally. For all of our time spent working we need adequate rest, and the same goes for feasting and fasting, excitement and stillness, etc.
I wrote this self-care plan after seeing the need in myself and my clients to better care for ourselves; to take time to listen to what our bodies are telling us, and to restore some of the balance that we have lost. My hope is that you will find new habits and ways of approaching life (eating, sleeping, selecting activities), that will help you in the near future, but also some that will continue to serve you for much longer. This plan can be used in conjunction with medical care, or on its own. It can be used as a part of a preconception plan, but it can also be used to support overall health and fertility regardless of your desire to achieve pregnancy. If you need to make adjustments, please do. While the synergistic power of making many positive changes at once is optimal, you will see benefits from small positive changes. You are worth it!
